Casino at HangarBicocca in Milan is Damián Ortega’s first solo exhibition in Italy. It provides a broad overview of Ortega’s work and includes sculptures, installations and film.
The centre piece of the exhibition is The Beetle Trilogy, a work that focuses on the Volkswagen Beetle car. The trilogy includes an installation (Cosmic Thing, 2002), a performance (Moby Dick, 2004) and a film (Escarabajo, 2005).
Damián Ortega (1967) is a Mexican artist who has lived in Berlin since 2006. His works are composed of everyday objects and materials, from bricks and glass to tortillas.
