On 14 February 2013 the Museo MA*GA (Gallarate Art Museum) was hit by a fire which severely damaged the building and forced the temporary closure of the museum. All the art works have been saved from the fire and are stored in different locations while the restoration of the building is ongoing.
With the exhibition E Subito Riprende il Viaggio… Opere dalle Collezioni del MA*GA dopo l’Incendio (And the Journey Resumes Immediately… Works from the MA*GA Collection after the Fire) the Triennale di Milano participates in a program aiming to keep part of the MA*GA collection accessible to the public.
The exhibition displays over 100 of the most significant works of the MA*GA collection and tells the history of Italian contemporary art over the period from the 1950s to the present day. Included are works of Carlo Carrà, Gino Severini, Renato Birolli, Joseph Migneco, Emilio Vedova, Mario Sironi and Atanasio Soldati.
