Wildlife Photographer of the Year is an annual international wildlife photography competition co-owned by the Natural History Museum in London and BBC Wildlife, and is considered to be one of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world. It harnesses the power of photography to promote the discovery, understanding, and responsible enjoyment of the natural world.

Being shortlisted in this competition is something to which photographers across the world aspire. Each of the thousands of annual entries is evaluated by an international jury of photography experts, before being awarded a place in the top 100 images of the year.

These top 100 images are displayed in an exhibition at the Natural History Museum, which later tours around the world. Fondazione Luciana Matalon in Milan is one of the locations in Italy where this global showcase of the very best nature photography can be admired.
